Missouri State University’s Global Teacher Education Exchange integrates virtual exchange into teacher preparation programs in Libya, Morocco, and the United States. Through the exchange, new and future educators from a variety of backgrounds engage with each other on local and global issues in K-12 education. With their cohorts from other countries, they learn to teach for global understanding, and they create and share educational resources about their countries and cultures. As a result, participants enter their careers with experiences in cross-cultural collaboration and with stronger pedagogical skills.

Activities

Participants learn with and from each other through weekly online, face-to-face workshops where they engage with international experts in teacher training. Together, they study practices and philosophies in global education, learn about international contexts in their profession, analyze how children learn about the world and its people, and contribute to K-12 curriculum. After completing the exchange, participants are invited to continue their professional development and global engagement by attending and contributing to alumni activities such as online conferences and webinars on topics in global education.
