Students will investigate the driving question: “How do we, as youth, engage our communities to create positive social change?” Beginning with a comprehensive professional development to support educators’ implementation of the standards-based curriculum, students challenge stereotypes and develop empathy for others as they share work and engage in cross-cultural dialogue through text, photo, virtual reality, and video posts. Students then complete Global Citizen Projects that address critical social issues in their communities. GNG will also run Reimagining Syria: Sharing our Stories to examine the impact of the Syrian crisis on the lives of young people. The program will inspire students’ recognition that young people, including themselves, can and do contribute to positive change in the world and build motivation to take action as global citizens.
