Dear friends and partners,
The Stevens Initiative is proud to partner with thoughtful education and community leaders who are connecting young people around the world through virtual exchange programs. The virtual exchange community continues to make great strides toward reaching young people in the United States and around the world who do not have enough access to international exchange. Thanks to the efforts of our partners, grantees, and peer organizations, we are now closer to reaching the goal of giving more young people the opportunity to connect with and learn with peers from other places and backgrounds.
Our first cohort of grantees is successfully wrapping up their projects. Moving forward, we aim to work with those organizations to continue to support their growth, which will be essential to the broader growth of the virtual exchange field.
The Initiative recently announced its second cohort of grant recipients, who will reach an additional 8,000 young people across 18 countries and 31 U.S. states where the Initiative has supported activities to date. These organizations are using creative methods to facilitate virtual exchange on subjects ranging from sustainable architecture to social entrepreneurship to robotics. We are looking forward to working with them to reach new communities in the United States and the Middle East & North Africa!
In 2018, we will continue to enhance our support system for virtual exchange practitioners. We will organize a series of webinars led by experts in education, technology, evaluation, and other related fields. We hope you will join these webinars and share your knowledge with colleagues and those interested in adopting virtual exchange. We will also share best practices we are learning through our evaluation efforts as we seek to help build the community of practice in this field.
On behalf of the team, thank you again to all of our supporters, partners, and friends. We hope you enjoy the holidays!
